DAY 01 — Arrival → Chilaw → Negombo
Upon arrival in Sri Lanka you will be warmly welcomed by your tour representative and proceed with the Ramayana Trail. You will visit the Manavari and Munneshwaram Temples in Chilaw. After the visits, check into the hotel.
Overnight: Negombo or vicinity.
Highlights
Manavari Temple — The first place where Lord Rama installed the Siva Lingam and prayed after the war with King Ravana. This Lingam (Ramalingam) is one of the rare lingams named after Lord Rama.
Munneshwaram Temple — Located where Lord Rama prayed to Shiva after the victorious battle. According to tradition, Rama was advised by Shiva to install and pray at four lingams — Manavari, Thirukoneshwaram, Thiruketheeswaram and Rameshwaram — as a remedy for the Brahmahathi Dosham.
DAY 02 — Negombo → Trincomalee
After an early breakfast, travel to Trincomalee. En route visit the Kanniya Ravana Water Well, Shankari Devi Shakthi Peetham and Thirukoneshwaram (Koneswaram) Temple. In the evening enjoy a walk on beautiful Nilaveli Beach.
Overnight: Trincomalee.
Highlights
Kanniya Ravana Water Well — The spot where King Ravana performed his mother's last rites; seven wells were created when Ravana struck the ground with his trishula.
Thirukoneshwaram (Koneswaram) Temple — A temple on a rock promontory with deep ties to the Ramayana; it was rebuilt after historical destruction by the Portuguese.
Shankari Devi Shakthi Peetham — A smaller but significant shrine near Koneswaram; the original site is listed among the AshtaDasha (18) Shakti Pithas.
DAY 03 — Trincomalee → Sigiriya → Kandy
After breakfast drive to Kandy with a stop to explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress (ground tour). Continue to Matale for a visit to a herbal & spice garden, then proceed to Kandy. On arrival in Kandy visit a Gem Museum and attend a traditional cultural show.
Overnight: Kandy.
Highlights
Sigiriya Rock — A UNESCO World Heritage site; an ancient rock fortress with rich history and archaeological importance.
Kandy — Sri Lanka’s last royal capital, known for its Buddhist significance and the Temple of the Tooth Relic. The city blends colonial architecture, a scenic lake and strong cultural heritage.
DAY 04 — Kandy → Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast depart for Nuwara Eliya. En route visit a tea plantation & factory, the Ramboda Waterfalls and the Hanuman Temple. In the late afternoon check into your hotel and enjoy a walk by Gregory’s Lake.
Overnight: Nuwara Eliya.
Highlights
Tea Plantation & Factory — Experience how Ceylon tea is processed, graded and taste a fresh cup of Sri Lankan tea.
Hanuman Temple — Located in the Ramboda hills; associated with the Ramayana and the heroic search for Sita by Hanuman.
DAY 05 — Nuwara Eliya → Divurumpola → Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast visit the Sita Amman Temple, Ashok Vanam and Gayathree Peedam Temple. Later drive to Divurumpola to see the temple there, then return to Nuwara Eliya.
Overnight: Nuwara Eliya.
DAY 06 — Nuwara Eliya → Bentota
After breakfast check out and drive to the southern coast famous for golden beaches. En route take a Madu River boat ride and visit a fish spa.
Overnight: Bentota.
DAY 07 — Bentota → Colombo
After breakfast check out and drive to Colombo, the commercial capital. En route visit the Vibhishana Palace / Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara. On arrival explore Colombo with a city & shopping tour.
Overnight: Colombo.
DAY 08 — Departure
Breakfast at the hotel. Later check out and drive to the airport in time for your departure flight leaving Sri Lanka with memories of the Spiritual Ramayana Trail.
